Forum LVI & the UD National Alumni Board
The students are here.
The alumni are everywhere.
Forum LVI is a University of Dallas student organization that connects students with working professionals around Dallas–Fort Worth. The National Alumni Board reaches UD graduates across the country. This page sketches what it could look like to work together — and what a student or a board member could do on day one.
Neither of us has the whole picture.
Forum LVI has students, a working events cadence, and a DFW network built one conversation at a time. The National Alumni Board has reach, structure, and members who already volunteer for UD. The overlap is obvious once you put them side by side.
Students, on the ground, already showing up.
- 30+ students at our first resume workshop
- A regular calendar of panels, dinners, and workshops
- A job board alumni can post roles to
- Student leaders who handle the logistics
Reach we can't build on our own.
- Alumni well beyond the DFW metroplex
- Class agents and regional representatives already in place
- Regional gatherings we could share a night with
- Members who have already said yes to volunteering
Four things to start with.
The mentorship pairing is agreed and starts this year. The other three are deliberately small — each can be tried once this semester and dropped if it doesn't work.
Co-hosted evenings
One joint happy hour or reception: Forum LVI brings the students, the board brings the alumni. If it works in Dallas, regional representatives could run the same format elsewhere.
Warm introductions
A student asks to speak with someone in a given field. We route it to board members who've offered, with a short coached note. The member says yes, no, or later — no obligation either way.
Roles and internships
Board members post openings to the Forum LVI job board. Interested students send a note, and we relay it with an introduction — the poster's contact details are never published.
A semester of mentorship
Agreed and starting this year: a handful of board members take one or two students for a semester — roughly a call a month. Bounded on purpose, so it's easy to say yes to and easy to stop.
What's coming up.
Joint events appear here automatically once they're tagged on the Forum LVI calendar.
One form, whichever side you're on.
Students: tell us the field you're curious about and we'll look for a board member who works in it. Board members: tell us what you're willing to do — an introduction, an evening, a role you can post — and we'll only come to you for that. Nothing here is published, and nothing is automatic. A Forum LVI officer reads every message and makes the introduction by hand.
What we'd need from the board.
Nothing here requires a budget, a committee, or a formal agreement to try once.
Worth a conversation?
We'll bring the students. Tell us where you'd like to start.
